About LJ

My goal as a writer is to create fantastical places and characters that whisk my readers away to a place that’s much more fun than reality. Reading has always been a hugely important part of my life. I can remember sitting on the bus (for 45 minutes each way!) reading Little House on the Prairie, The Phantom Tollbooth, Encyclopedia Brown, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, and many other stories.

As a “grown-up,” I’ve spent a lot of time and energy thinking about what kind of contribution I want to make to the world through my work. I’ve tried to find something else to do with my life, but the only way I can see to make a really valuable and meaningful contribution to the world is through improving it with great storytelling. Though I have a background in education, I have always known that writing is what I want to do.

Having grown up in the country (literally, surrounded by farms), I have a strong sense of hospitality and would love for you to stop by my website any time.  I get my greatest satisfaction from helping other people to be successful, so hopefully this site can provide you with a little inspiration. It is my hope to create a place where writers can find community. That’s what I’d love to accomplish with this website. I hope that you will be able to make good use of the prompts and ideas presented here and that you’ll be willing to engage in the community as well by sharing your thoughts, commentary, and constructive criticism. I’d love to hear about your triumphs and your struggles.
