Revising myself

Hey there, internet. I know it’s been a few weeks since I last updated you.

Well, here’s the quick version.

1. Holidays were nice. Lots of driving. Lots of eating. Obviously, next year I will start my shopping earlier.

2. I didn’t really make a New Year’s Resolution. Meh. Oh well.

3. Still looking for a full-time job. Falling into a pit of despair on this front, but there’s still a tiny seed of hope, I guess.

Now that all that stuff is out of the way, I can come to the point of this post. I’m going through a fair amount of personal revision. Again. I feel the need to re-invent every now and then, and I guess around the new year is a nice time to start that process.

I didn’t finish my NaNo project. I am still working on it. It’s longer than any other continuous piece I’ve written, but I don’t think there’s much worth salvaging in it. Whenever I think that, I always hear the words from Under the Tuscan Sun.

“Terrible ideas are like playground scapegoats. Given the proper encouragement, they grow up to be geniuses.”

Well, I don’t know if that’s true or not. I’m going to keep working on my project. Then I’m going to set it aside and start something else. After I’m done with that something else, I might come back to the NaNo story to see if I can find some sort of plot skeleton in there.

So where does that leave the blog? Well, I don’t know. I’m not really sure what I want to write about here. I might just pick a theme or make updates about what I’m working on at any given point in time. Nobody really ever reads or responds to these posts, so if you happen to stumble upon it and have a particular request, I’m happy to oblige.
