Lady Gaga’s tattoo

I have lately been musing over what my priorities and goals are. As I chewed mentally, I was also making use of Stumble Upon. One of the things that popped up is an article about matching celebrities with their tattoos. Really great use of my time, right? Well, actually, it turned out that there was a grain of helpfulness in this.

One of the tattoos is the one Lady Gaga has on her arm. It is a snippet of poetry from Ranier Maria Rilke. Here’s what it says (you know, translated from German to English)”

“Confess to yourself in the deepest hour of the night whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Dig deep into your heart, where the answer spreads its roots in your being, and ask yourself solemnly, Must I write?”

Must I? I must.
